First time on My Induction?
This is a 365-day guide for new Subject Specialists in their first year. The year is split into 5 phasesA phase is a stage of year-1 induction. Orientation & Cambridge Grounding (weeks 1-4) — build subject depth and understand the role. Shadow Visits (months 2-3) — go with your Mentor Specialist. Co-Delivery (months 4-6) — lead parts of visits together. Supervised Independence (months 7-9) — lead visits with your mentor in reach. Full Independence & Certification (months 10-12). (Orientation → Shadow Visits → Co-Delivery → Supervised Independence → Full Independence & Certification), and you get a Mentor Specialist. Your school visits follow the same order: at least four shadow visitsIn Phase 2 you go with your Mentor Specialist as an observer only — you do not lead, give feedback or write the report. Then you co-lead at least four visits (Phase 3), visit on your own with your mentor reviewing before anything is submitted (Phase 4), and take your own schools in Phase 5., then co-led visits, then solo visits. You log them on My Induction Walkthroughs. The year ends with the Readiness Checkpoint: Certified or Extended. If you are not a new hire, you will see "You don't have an active induction" below — that is correct.
